Egypt – Days 8 & 9: Let’s Relax

Nile Cruise

The day after our Desert Safari, we had a free day to relax and enjoy the resort. It was wonderful to be able to hang out in the sea, just floating and at the pool bar.

On day 9, after our free day relaxing at our resort, our driver picked us up to drive us to Luxor! It was about a 3-hour drive (I got car sick again!) and we reached Luxor by around lunchtime.  In Luxor, we embarked on our river boat, the M/S Concerto.

When we got on board, we met our guide @Omar_Haridi_Egyptologist_Guide for this portion of the trip and he is WONDERFUL.  So incredibly smart, kind, talented, and generous.  We loved having him as our guide for 4 whole days.

After some instructions from him, we were able to get lunch in the restaurant on the boat. All our meals were included (just like an ocean cruise!) and each meal was a buffet.

Like a typical cruise, we sat at the same table with another family.  As it turns out, it was another young couple with their young son and we absolutely hit it off.  We were partnered with them for the entirety of the cruise.  Omar would pick the 5 of us up every morning and we would be out with him touring together until he dropped us back off at the boat.  So we definitely spent quite a lot of time together and got to know each other very well! (Spoiler alert, 2 years later we are still friends and meet up as often as we can considering we live halfway across the world from each other!)

Our boat was the M/S Concerto which has 63 cabins and 4 suites. It also features a bar, pool, satellite TV (there was 1 English movie channel!) air conditioning, sliding glass doors in each cabin, WiFi (extra cost), and one restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Cruises start at $549 aboard the M/S Concerto and include your guide and excursions, depending on which tour company you book with. Our cruise was included in the cost of our tour.

We spent the first night on board anchored in Luxor, but on the second and third nights, we sailed towards Aswan, and on the fourth night we slept on board but stayed in Aswan.

We really enjoyed our time on board and my favorite memory from this entire trip happened during our Nile cruise.  But stick around to see the rest of our adventures!
