It’s the dead of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and it’s been a particularly rough one here in the States. In the Midwest, it’s brutally cold. Texas had several inches of snow. The Pacific Northwest had a large snowstorm. The East Coast keeps getting hit with snowstorm after a snow storm. All of this in the midst of a global pandemic. Everyone, including myself, is struggling with cabin fever. People are looking towards the future and trying to figure out where they can travel to this summer. Today, I’m going to share what countries have their borders open to United States citizens for travel, as of February 22, 2021.
But before we get started, I wanted to make it be clear, there are still requirements to visit each of these countries. There also may be other countries open with stricter requirements, such as Covid-19 testing and quarantine. In addition, each country, regardless of their other requirements, requires mandatory travel health insurance and/or health forms to be filled out prior to entry.
Here are the current countries open for travel to the US and their requirements.
Mexico – No quarantine or Covid Test required, Health Form Required and can be found here, Face coverings and Social Distancing may be required
Costa Rica – No quarantine or Covid Test required, Health Form Required and can be found here, Travel health Insurance required, Face coverings and Social Distancing are required
Jamaica – No quarantine required as long as you test negative for Covid-19 and you are required to stay in The Resilient Corridor (for tourism purposes, you are allowed to move freely within your resort and travel to tourist destinations certified and licensed by the Jamaica Tourist Board as Covid-19 Resilient). A Covid test IS required for citizens (12 and older) from certain countries, including the US. It must be within 10 days prior to traveling to Jamaica. You will need to present your negative results to the airline prior to boarding your flight to Jamaica. You will also need to receive authorization to travel to Jamaica here. Face coverings are required and Social Distancing is recommended.
Montenegro – No quarantine required as long as you take a Covid-19 test within 72 hours prior to leaving for Montenegro.
Albania – No requirements.
North Macedonia – No requirements.
Belarus – Covid-19 test required within 72 hours prior to leaving for Belarus. 10-day quarantine may be required.
Most Caribbean islands are open to some degree with restrictions. Other nations (specifically, the EU) are not open to US citizens for tourism purposes. You can find up-to-date entry requirements for all countries and US states on United Airline’s website. Their website has been very helpful when researching the different countries and requirements.
